Harley had his first puppy class with Izzy, his sister (who is about half his size). Elin gave them both a hide chew to get them to settle before starting work. Harley chewed his till it went soggy then swallowed it whole – then wanted Izzy’s chew. However, once the class started he did really well with “sit”, “down” and walking to heel around the cones. I was very proud of him.
We’ve had daily walks round the village to get used to seeing people, dogs and traffic which he coped with very well but still complains about walking. I think he wants to be carried again! Also doing daily car trips and he’s getting better and better at coping with the car – much less squeaking now! Harley’s quite happy to be around when I’m hoovering and copes well with noise in general.

On Saturday we went for a walk with Harley’s friend Dylan who has come to stay with one of our neighbours for a week. On Sunday we met up with fellow HD volunteers, Diane and Keith who have retired brood bitch Ebony and, at the moment, one of her puppies, Gill, who is waiting to go to her new recipient. We had a lovely walk with all 5 dogs, followed by a carvery lunch in a pub garden. They all had lots of fun chasing each other around.
